What is Accelerated Reader? Accelerated Reader is a computer program accessed through Renaissance Learning that helps parents and teachers encourage and monitor their students' reading. Your child picks a book and either reads independently or listens to the book. When finished, your child takes a short quiz on the AR program. AR gives children, teachers, and librarians feedback based on the quiz results. For the 2022-2023 school year students in grades 2-5 may access AR.
What books are AR books?
Many fiction and nonfiction books have tests written for them on the Accelerated Reader program. One way to find out if a book has a test is to search for it using:
*In our Sagamore Hills library, AR books have either an orange circle or an AR sticker on the spine of the book*
